History

The Masters Program in Biomedical Sciences was officially established in 1999 by the Decree of the Director General of Indonesian Higher Education No. 247/DIKTI/Kep/1999. At that time this Study Program, like other Masters Study Programs at Udayana University, was under the coordination of the Postgraduate Program of Udayana University.

At the time it was established by the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education, this study program only had one concentration, namely the concentration of Reproductive Sciences, so in the decree it was written that the Biomedical Sciences Study Program Concentration of Reproductive Science was written. Graduates of the Study Program while holding M.Kes and hereinafter known as M.Repro. The rationale for why the reproductive science program was chosen as the focus at that time was because at that time there were very high interest in this field of science. In addition, alumni who graduate from this concentration master's program can continue their studies to become Andrology Specialists.

Over time, the Master of Biomedical Sciences Study Program was developed by adding 3 (three) other concentrations, namely Anti Aging Medicine Science in 2007 with the Rector's Decree no. 109/J14/PR.01.10/2007, Basic Medicine in 2008 with the Rector's Decree no. 202A/H14/PR.0110/2008 and Clinical Medicine with the Rector's Decree no. 204A/H14/PR.01.10/2008.

The Anti Aging Medicine Science concentration was established as the world's first master's program. The students are doctors from all over Indonesia. Students for masters in reproductive sciences and basic medical sciences include doctors, dentists and paramedical graduates such as nursing and midwifery graduates who are interested in reproduction or basic medical science. Clinical Medical Science students are resident doctors (prospective specialists) who want to have master's competence in the field of clinical medicine according to their specialization, both surgical and non-surgical. Through the University Senate meeting, the Chancellor stopped the Clinical Medicine Concentration program since 2015.

Since December 2016 by the Chancellor's decision, the Master of Biomedical Sciences Study Program (MIB Study Program) is no longer under the coordination of the Postgraduate and was transferred to be under the coordination of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University under the name of the Master of Biomedical Sciences Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University.

Up now, MIB Study Program consist of three concentration such as :

1. Medical reproduction concentration

2. Anti Aging Medicine concentration
3. Basic Medical Science which divided into four group :

  • Anatomy - Histology,
  • Physiology,
  • Microbiology,
  • Pharmacology
Since January 2024, under the concentration of basic Medical Science has two more specialization : Parasitology and Biochemistry
